Torque has to reach the ground through parts that were specified for a lot less of it. On most builds the drivetrain is the real limit, and it announces itself well before the engine does.
Clutch slip is the most common post-build complaint. The symptom: RPM rises without proportional acceleration, usually in the higher gears where load is highest.
Slip is not just annoying. It generates enormous heat, glazes the friction surface, damages the flywheel, and makes every datalog and dyno pull meaningless.
The honest advice: buy the least aggressive clutch that comfortably exceeds your torque figure. Overbuying costs you the daily drivability of the car for capacity you never use.
A lightweight flywheel improves throttle response and revs up faster. It also makes the car harder to launch smoothly and can add gear rattle. On a street car, a modest reduction is pleasant; a very light race flywheel is not.
Modern automatics vary enormously. Some tolerate large torque increases; others slip or overheat quickly.
A clutch or transmission that slips makes it impossible to tune the car properly — the dyno cannot load the engine and the logs are meaningless. If the drivetrain is slipping, that gets fixed before the tune, not after.
These become relevant at higher torque, on sticky tires, or in a car that launches hard.
On a street car in Florida, the drivetrain frequently survives simply because the tires give up first. That is not a strategy, but it does mean that on a car with more grip — better tires, drag radials, cooler weather — components that seemed fine suddenly are not.

The least aggressive clutch that comfortably exceeds your torque figure. Multi-friction or hybrid discs are the usual street sweet spot. Puck-style ceramic clutches have huge capacity and are genuinely unpleasant in traffic.
Heat, primarily. A transmission cooler is cheap insurance on any car making significantly more torque, and a tuned shift calibration that firms up shifts reduces both slip and the heat it generates.
On a manual, the clutch. After that, axles on front and all-wheel drive cars — they fail on launch rather than at speed — then driveshafts and differentials. An open differential wastes power long before it breaks.
