On a properly executed build, the compressor and its immediate hardware is often well under half the cost. If your budget is mostly the turbo kit, the build is underfunded and it will show up as a conservative tune on hardware that could not support more.
Buying for today's target and then wanting more next year means buying the same category of part twice. Common examples:
Deciding the final goal at the start, even if you get there in stages, avoids most of this. Buy for the end state where the part allows it.

Labour, followed by cooling and drivetrain. Contingency is the other one — something is always found once the car comes apart, and a build with no margin for that is a build that stalls.
